New guy here.

Have a CV 60's strat and was planning on getting the Lake Placid Blue 50's CV. Through a series of strange coincidences, I got offered a blue MIM that looks very similar to 50's CV, in very good condition for $200 by a Sam ash employee I'm cool with. Someone was supposed to buy it from him for $250 and never showed up and he gave me the deal.

Very happy with it. Feels really nice. My first actual fender and I like it a lot, but the pups on my CV are much better so these gotta go. Pics at the end of the post.

Ok, now where I need help:

I have a boss gt-10 available ft on cl and someone offered me a red MIM, maple fretboard, with gold plated hardware. I'm having a really hard time id-ing this guitar. I've googled so many different combinations of words and it doesn't come up. Was it a limited run?
Doesn't look like a deluxe player and the guy says everything is stock.

Here's a pic of it:

And my NGD pics:

Welcome!

It's not a Deluxe Player. Rather, it appears to be a 'regular' MIM with gold hardware, probably a FSR for some store. All in all, I'd do the trade.

Congrats on your new guitar!!

Better pics are needed of the red Strat to 100% ID it. But like Martian says it looks like a MIM Standard with gold hardware. Stock or aftermarket, who knows at this point. Is that the factory sticker on the pickguard? What does it say?

I believe it's the factory sticker, but I have no idea what it says. That pic is the only thing I have to go by.

The guy is out of town, so I have to wait till he returns for better pics/info.

So you guys think I should do the trade?

Last night, I came across the opportunity to get the Lake Placid Blue 50's CV that I originally wanted. I know the pups on it are better than the ones that'll be in the MIM (if they're ceramic).

Which would you guys pick?

Thanks

If I could have both (such as in your case), I'd get both.

I decided to go the 50's Classic Vibe for a number of reasons

1) all the CV's I played have been more consistent than the MIMs
2) don't have to mod, they come great stock w/ really good pups
3) It's the missing piece in my collection:

This is the 50's CV I just closed the deal for:

It'll go well with the evil MIM twin:
