I have a strat that has a straight in jack, below only two tone knobs, instead of the slanted type so common on most strat guitars. First, I thought I read many years ago they only made these between 81 and 83 and they were so distained they stopped producing them. Second, My neck says March of 85, and I was sold the guitar as an 83 American made which it says next to the serial number E 339357. I'd like to know if it has any extra value (or less) since that model is rare. Did someone take a Japanese body and put an American neck on it? Thanks.

I think you're talking about the post-Dan Smith era Standard Strat which were made in '83. I don't know how much they're worth, they might be rare but they don't seem to be in demand either.
