my cp 60s strat has a reoccuring problem (static on the scratch plate). my pickups are cs 69s, with the middle pickup is not rwrp.
ive tried shielding the pickguard, which let me say makes absolutely zero difference.
ive removed the pickguard and looked right under, i cant really say i know what im looking for. , but i was looking maybe for something obvious.
ive placed dryer sheets under and rubbed them on top, which is temporary.
kinda like placing a bandaid then taking a dip in the pool.

**********now, i took a look at the input jack of my cp 60s. and the black wire sodder touches the male end of the cable and the white wire sodder doesnt. now, i was curious to compare the input jack of my am std, and both wire sodders dont touch at all. :? .*********

should they really be wired so differently?

I had a static problem with a Strat with a single ply p/g and the dryer sheet thing didn't work.I bought a aluminum shield from Callaham Guitars that is the same size as the Strat p/g that goes between it and the body...they used them on early 60's guitars, stopped the static on the p/g instantly.

I purchased a Squier CV 50's Tele and it has the same problem. I had never heard of such an issue with static. Now I know. Thanks. This forum is very informative and educational.

This seems unlikely. Naturally, the pots might be noisy as you turn them however.
