So, a friend of mine is selling his 2002-'03 MIM Standard Strat for $350. It's cream with a pure white pickguard. No major aesthetic damage, just normal wear and tear. It plays decent but I'm picky about having a guitar set up the right way. So, I would want to spend some money and take it to my local luthier to get it intonated.

Overall, does it sound like a good offer? I currently have an old Gibson Maurader and a Thinline Tele. I would just like to build my arsenal.

Not a bad price. Not a great price. Heck, just go on ebay and search on the completed listings for a MIM strat. You'll get a real good idea of the values.

You can find ones less expensive than that. I have bought MIM Strats, both SSS and HSS in the $175-$300 range. All in very good to excellent condition. Look around, you could do better. If the guitar is exceptional, $350 is not WAY too much, but just a little high. It should come with a case for $350.

Nice! My first "real" electric guitar was a Marauder.

That's only $135 less than I paid for my MIM Powerhouse new. Better tell your friend to sharpen his pencil a little bit since you say you need a setup. If it's just intonation, heck... do that yourself. It's VERY easy! 8)

Comes with a hardshell case. I could probably get him down to $250.

$250 sounds a fair bit more reasonable. Sounds like a nice guitar, too

I would expect a complete stranger to try and get $350 for it, but I would think a "friend" would be able to do a little better on the price for you.

Seems high.

Sometimes the local Guitar Center will have like new 2005+ strats for $249-299 in their used gear section.

For about $50 more, you can get a Deluxe off ebay

I live in the U.S.

Yeah, that did seem a little steep to me.

Offer him $250-$275 if you like it that much as he is a friend and that would seem fair for the both of you guys.
