So here's some pics of a MIM Strat I picked up today for $160. Not sure what model it is. Looks like a reissue, but truss rod is on the head, not sure if that's right or not. I did see a sunburst one on ebay that was the same year and looked the same, as far as the logo and the truss rod goes, and that person had it listed as a reissue.

As you can see there has been some stuff modded, so here's my plan.
I'm going to put the graphite saddles on my other MIM Strat and put the vintage style saddles from that one on this guitar. I'm going to put a new pickguard on it, maybe mint? and pull out the SD pickups and put standard looking pickups in, not sure which yet. Might put the SDs int he other MIM and put those pickups in this, they're from an american standard.

Here's a pick of the other MIM I'm talking about, I'll use the graphite saddles on this and these saddles on the other one, if everything is the same.

I'll also take some picks when I take the pickguard off and take the neck off and get pics of that.

I see the Tex Mex had some of these features too, but don't know if they came in this color. And don't know what the exact specs were on those.

The colour (looks kinda like Daphne Blue) and the tuners almost make it look like a Classic Series 50s strat. Although they had a single ply pick guard that's not to say someone hasn't just swapped the guard for a 3 ply when they swapped the pickups.

The thing that seems unusual to me is the lack of the "Original Contour Body" decal on the headstock.

Once you remove the neck and pickguard it might shed some more light on things.

I just took it apart and took picks, will post them in a few.
I thought it might be a 57 reissue too, just cause of the color and maple board, while still wondering about the truss rod, but looks like the 11 hole pickguard was original.

here's a pick of the one on ebay I was talking about

it's rosewood though.

Looks like the neck hasn't been taken off much, if at all.

And I can't make out all the info in the neck pocket.

Ok here it is after an hour's worth of work. It's not screwed together yet, but it's wired up.

The pickguard and covers are pretty white though, so might go with aged white, or the mint. Not sure yet.

Hey there JansonSD,
The picture showing the back of the Daphne Blue (?) guitar...the paint looks pretty rough. Do you think it's factory paint?
Thanks,
Tagg

Which pick are you talking about in particular? The one of the back, I wiped it with a wet cloth and didn't dry it so it left some marks, which you can see on the neck plate, but I was wondering, it has some crazing around the contour so looks like it's laquer. It could be repainted, but looks pretty good if it was.

Oh just reread it and saw you said the back, yeah I think that's just from where it dried from me wiping it down, gave it an orange peel look.

Mint green. That will work amazing with that old-school color.

It's probably just a regular MIM Standard with a Deluxe Player's Strat neck.

Well it's a nitro body so don't think it's a standard. Not sure what all models were out in that year, have to look into it more.

I had one set back, the string spacing on this one is 2 3/16 and on my standard strat it's 2 1/16 so I couldn't switch the saddles. I have the graphite saddles back on this one, until I get a chance to buy some vintage style ones.
