I have an Eric Clapton Artist Series body and am thinking of installing a USA 57 V - neck on it. The problem is that the Clapton neck pocket is routed for a 22 fret neck and the 57 neck I want to install is 21. The 57 also doesn't have the truss rod key at the neck joint like the Clapton neck does. Does anybody know if I will have problems?

I think the 22 fret is on a piece of the fingerboard the hangs over the
pickguard. Best adviece is to look for a friend with a vintage neck to
try if it will fit, assuming he wants to take it of his guitar.

my strat has 22 frets and the 22nd fret slides over the neck and if i take a look under it, it doesnt seem to make any difference on the body
so i think 21-frets neck could fit in as well
