That is one sweet looking ax ,congrats and lots of luck with her. I still get amazed at the price differences in different countries and to be honest kind of find it unfair.

Thanks PeterGrant,

Yes this baby is definately a lifetime instrument that will be passed down to one of my 2 boys.

Lucky buggers they will be, either one of them will have an American Standard and an American Deluxe each from dad when the times right.

Yes this one has a modern C shape neck profile.

Thanks for your positive comments Mate.

No problem friend.. I never had a connection with a guitar like I have with my deluxe and I been playing since I was 14 and I will be 37 next month. This is like my fourth time checking out the pics of your axe. Im flat broke and would of paid another grand for my deluxe because it will be with me for a lifetime. Dont feel bad because others got a better price then you. The most important thing is you found your soulmate guitar and that to me is priceless. I love reading $@!& like this, it pumps me up and I get all excited and get an extra creative spark to jam... let the good times roll.......

Hey No worries Pete, OMG hey I turn 37 Next month as well...LOL...

Yes I have the same feeling as you everytime some bloke post pic's of their lovely new purchase.

It defiantely gets the GAS going. haa haa... and that feeling to crank up the amp!!

It's funny you know, I am broke as well...but I paid my bills yesterday and what was left over went straight on my new baby "AMBER"

I worked the Easter long weekend public holidays and will be working the next public holiday so it's obvious where my hard earned money is going.

I have over 10 Fender Strats from MIA/MIJ/MIM... but I can't bring myself to selling any of them to buy "AMBER" any quicker.

Everyone one of them has a memory with me at gig's or special occassions where I have pulled them out.

Anyway Happy Birthday for next month...LOL...I reckon my new woman "AMBER" is my birthday present for next month...

aahhh haaa that's what I will tell the wife when she goe's through the roof mad   about me buying the new #1  ...!!!!!!

You need Blertes on the case with this one mate.

My past discussions with him completely persuaded me that, for me buying a guitar in the southern hemisphere is a bad idea. Some places in NZ were up to 30% more expensive than the UK so 25% sounds about right to me.

$2200 sounds fair to me :)

RRP in NZ for a previous model Am. Deluxe in NZD$2799.00. NZD$100 less for an AM STD with matching headstock... AM STD without painted headstock are on special for NZD$2099

Dont listen to everyone, this is a good deal. Hell, Id even buy one and have it sent over if I was looking. I bought my '06 in 2006 in Melbourne for AUD$2000 which was a bloody good deal mate. It wasnt from a retailer- so I guess you would pay a little more from a shop.

Go for it mate- its a good price :) People from UK canada or USA will pay less- thats the way it is. For us, we pay a premium. Thats the price we pay for living in a quiet corner of the earth down under :)

Thanks heaps Blertles, your opinion comes as a valued one.

The deal is locked in....and I sincerely appreciate your input because we can relate to the frustrations of the geographical financial hazard that AUS & NZD have to put up with.

Anyway, as said before, when that tone is cranking I won't be thinking about $2200..to which I am still happy to pay for considering down our way this is a bloody good price...

Hi Pete, Mate of course it's ok to post pic's...especially of the lovelys that you have. If anyone else has any Deluxe piccy's please post..

What an awesome set up you have...I have heard that the V Shape Neck on the Deluxe is just like silk to touch and play...I have never heard nor seen a bad review of it yet.

I was considering that one too, but when I walked into the store I saw my baby..It's a very strange feeling that is hard to describe when you connect with the instrument of your choice.

I love the way that you have them both hanging up either side of Jim...that is awesome, in my opinion it's like a shrine you can add to it's power by at anytime taking your preferred strat off the wall and injecting it with more MOJO!!! AWESOME MATE...

Ohhh and my birthday is on the 5th of May...I am just a tad of an older fart.....

Omg, I just realised that I have the same Jimi Poster on my wall...ok now it's getting weird..lol.

Congrats on the purchase. agreed a guitar like that your not likely to replace it.

i think this store is one of the best price wise in australia http://www.shiremusic.com.au has it for $2144.

Alans is usually a bit pricy (from what i've heard) but you may live closer to it so *shrug* so really got about the going price. always good to try haggling them down seems to be a lost art in the western world.

Impulse7, regardless of model its costs the same (or about the same) to transport it to the docks or airport, then the cost to Ship from the USA to australia then the cost to transport from the docks/airport to warehouse the transport cost from the warehouse to the shop.

Then fender australia wants a cut for admin costs and profit probably, .while we don't pay US sales tax on the items we do pay GST. with that said i have seen a American special for about $860 AUD during a sale.

Yeah i worked last christmas eve (all night) then went back christmas day after 8 hours kip for another full shift and rolled in at 10 pm having "missed" christmas completely and ive had to do that and more loads of times.

Not quite the same as buying a guitar but i burned about £130 on 2 byoc pedals lol.

Who cares about the money were all a long time dead. Best of luck with the axe dont listen to doom mongers who say the pups are rubbish.

:D Al

Congratulations on a great investment. I recently purchased an '09 Deluxe myself after reading up on Bill Lawrence who went to great lengths to invent the great set of pick-ups your new axe has...the Samarium Cobalt Noiseless. I thought you might enjoy reading up on them as well. Here's a link to my previous post on the subject and a few pix of mine.

Just wanted to shine in with some congrats from The States on the 09 Deluxe. I see you guy's have got this overseas thing going on, and I respectfully joined in with just a "yank" comment or 2. First of all, IMHO the 09 Am Deluxe is my absolute fave...daily player...(mine is Montego Black, Gold pickguard). I have lots & lots of top shelf guitars, and many Strats. The Deluxe is just a little extra special, and will always be your go to guitar. Good luck with her.

Hello Niki...hope you are well
Hello Ceri...hope you are also well

Cheers Mates

I dont think you can every go wrong with a Deluxe.

The price somewhere else is kinda meaningless, unless youre going to buy it & pay duties & shipping. Im not sure yould save anything. The bottom is, does it work for you.

A beautiful lady is comin to your house!

Its 5:40am in Michigan right now and I cant sleep. I just got done reading this thread again and just wanted to say that this is the most friendly forum I belong to. Everyone is so nice and I actually enjoy coming to the forums here vs most other forums where most are not very friendly and attacking one another. Especially grammar, mine is horrible. :D :D
