Very interesting that "what strap" can go 3 pages deep! I have been collecting guitars for more than 20 years, and I buy a matching strap for every guitar I have. Kinda became a strap collector as well. I have them hanging everywhere.

My suggestion would be to go to your local Guitar shop, grab a Strat off the wall and hook up a variety of straps and see what feels best. I have many really extra cool straps...crocodile from Australia, sterling silver buckle ones. all kinds of animal skin ones...love them all, but I always use a Levy's nylon strap for playing...like Ceri said earlier...its got the right mix of slip and don't slip for me

I use this one on my strats:

http://www.italiastraps.com/

They're a great deal - $69 for two - nice thick, soft leather, and I took one and gave the other to a guy that was helping me out learning the guitar and let me play live with him for a few songs.

Look at who else is using them.

I got the recommendation from a bass player.

Hey Mike
That Comfort Strap looks good...but the end buckles are very close to the strap ends, potentially rubbing against the butt of the guitar. Thats why I always play with the Levy's...no buckles anywhere near the guitar body. Anything near the body freaks me out (OCD) all of my guitars are dead mint. Not a mark on any of them. Thats also why I hate worn series and relic series models....that statement might cause this thread to stray from straps. Sorry

Tells us all how importing a strap is. Sometimes I play/practice 3-4 hours at a time. Comfort is a good thing.

I often play and practice for great lengths of time as well. So I bought a guitar stool, and I sit down. Straps are tools made for holding up your guitar. I also find them visually appealing. If there was a way that we didn't need them to play standing up...we wouldn't use them at all.

I have a very gorgeous Gibson ES175 1957 Reissue in Natural. Stunning and super expensive. It does not even come with strap posts on the guitar, and there's not a chance I would drill any holes in it for them either.

Thanks

In that case what can ya do? I alwayse use a strap standing or sitting. When I was a kid taking guitar lessons my teacher insisted me useing a strap. An other thing I feel safer with a strap on. I have a couple high end guitars in my stables to. Sometimes wile playing a long time I'll pull a cork so for me next to the guitar the strap is the next most inportant thing to have.

Don't like it at all. To bouncy and to thick. It's going back. Not worth $35. bucks.

These leather, sandwiched over a strong nylon? inner webbing straps by levy's are really wide at 3", really comfortable because of the wide width, adjustable to 64". They carry them at guitar center, for $55.

Oh, to be sure sir! So very helpful indeed! Hey, thanks for sharing the great story about your little one Nik, great laughs, and it does one's heart good to hear such tales of family adventures!

Different straps for different folks :?

I have a footlocker full of a wide variety of straps that I've
aquired over the past 40 years....not even sure what else is
in there?

I have quite a few to. Now that I'm buying higher end guitars I don't feel right putting a old strap on.
