I've owned 3 Strats in my life.

The first one was from 85 - 96 and that was the model with just one tone control and you plugged in at 90 degrees to the body. I think it was CBS USA made???

Anyway - this was a great guitar and I only sold it to pay the mortgage one month....

Second Strat was a MIM I got in 2003 and kept for 18 months. I really liked this one too - just standard fittings etc and it worked great as back-up to my Ibanez.

Sold it though in 2004 and bought my American Deluxe which I have to say is the best guitar I've ever owned.

I liked all 3 for different reasons and I certainly didn't have a 'thing' about owning a MIM - it was a bloody nice guitar and I wouldn't have a problem owning one again,

I bought a mexican strat HSS fat last year.
Beautiful artic white.
I changed the pickups for tex mex special neck and middle.
For the bridge a bought a sh-6 from seymour duncan.
I also bought schaller locking key.
Imagine how i must love my strat.
Originally i'm a bass player and like for guitars it's fender all the way

I just purchased a MIM Strat last week. So far, I cant complain. It sounds great and is really easy to play. I bought a black one with a maple fretboard. The only thing i changed was the standard white pickguard. I bought the pearloid white one and now the guitar looks and sounds amazing.

Jeffo! Nice Strat! When I bought my first Fender (which is my Mexican), as a typical female, I did try all the colors 'on' to see what was easier on my eye and what made me look better. Childish yes but again as a female I reserve the right to determine which color may make my butt look too big. Needless to say, the white one went back up on the wall. They were out of the sunburst so I did get the black one. . .much more slimming and it's the closest I'll ever get having ANYTHING in common with Clapton!

I just bought a american strat after reading reviews and trying the Mexican and American stratocaster for now 2 years. I have read so much positive Mexican Strat reviews. But it's true.. it's a really sweet guitar for the price ! But after trying them both, i chose the American. Buying a guitar is not about what people think, but if You like it or not. Reviews are very helpful, but in the end, your the one that will pay and play it !

Mexican Stadard Stats are really swell, although I haven't tried the upgraded ones, yet. But I think it's worth a couple hundred more to get a Deluxe or an Artist model made in Mexico. I have a Palyers Strat with the seven choices of pick up combos, and I have a Buddy Guy that hase a one piece maple neck. I really like the Jimmie Vaugan Strats, too. Better than the SRV Strat because of the neck sizes.

I've got a 2003 Tom Delonge signature MIM Strat in Daphne Blue. It was the first decent guitar i ever got, is still one of the best guitars i've ever played, looks fabulous, sounds amazing through my big old Marshall and to cap it all, is going up in value cos Delonge defected to Gibson shortly after i bought it, and there aren't many of them about. I'll never sell it, modify it or lend it out to anyone. i'd say the Mexicans are pretty damn good.
