So basically i posted a thread yesterday about a strat my friend bought, looks like a fender deluxe but i sent fender consumer relations a message with the serial # to be sure and they have no information on the guitar. I double checked the serial # and everything. These are the pics. It has to be a real fender but why would the serial not be registered?

The volume knob is also a button

WHY DOES FENDER HAVE NO INFO FOR THE SERIAL NUMBER?

Blerties-the following post from yesterday will answer your question:

Quote:
Hello all, sorry its been awhile. My friend recently bought a strat off a guy for $300. I guess the guy got it for christmas a few years back and never got to it. It still has plastic on pickguard. Im pretty sure its a usa strat deluxe. It has the locking tuners, the volume knob has the button on it, and it has that butterscotch, orange tinted neck. 2 tone sunburst, mint green pickguard.(i will post pics later on today or tomorrow). When im asking is because i sent fender an email of the serial # and the guy from fender is saying there is nothing in the system for that. The serial # starts out as DZ9 and its on the back of the headstock. Under that it says made in usa. I told my friend if it really is a usa deluxe then he got one heck of a deal.

Bad photos looks like it taken with a Nokia 7160 mobile phone, it cost $300, plastic on the pickguard (no stickers?), Fender have no record of it and "about a strat my friend bought".

"Hello all, sorry its been awhile. My friend recently bought a strat off a guy for $300. I guess the guy got it for christmas a few years back and never got to it. It still has plastic on pickguard."

Like you mean near the end of last year or a few years back some other time? The serial number is out (more than normal) it just has weird spacing. The grain in the wood and pickguard is also suspicious to me. Something is not quite right.

The OP should tell us where it was brought from.
This is the 3rd thread about it.

I could be wrong. They are horrid night photos. But based on the evidence presented so far.

I see what your saying about the case, yeah they did come with tweed cases. I think the Am STD case is superior though. If someone wants a tweed case and will sell me the guitar for a lot less money than its worth than I'd go for it.

The crooked serial no' does happen occasionaly, it's not off by much though.

Yep the photo's are bad.

In light of the above mentioned issues, you gotta play before pay. It could be a Bazaar Guitars fake. I am quite confident that it isnt though. The way the lighter area of the burst extends into the upper bout is very un-chinese knock off. I'd want to see a picture of the whole of the back of the guitar though. Make sure that tummy contour isnt a solid block black and that the burst extends into the tummy cut. That Bazaar LP I recently set up, the body was 3 piece with a 2 piece maple cap and a veneer round the back.
One area it did really lack in was the line of the tuners. These look straight though.
