If you purchased a MIM bridge instead of a MIA bridge, I believe the saddle spacing is different.

atolleter is correct, the American's and the Standard (MIM) have different string spacing. It's very close but it's the difference between metric and standard...the American uses standard spacing (2 7/32's I think), the MIM uses metric (52mm I think).

Now as far as "quality" goes, if we're talking about complete bridge assemblies, then I will say that typically the American's do have much better trem blocks than the MIM's do (at least stock...a lot of folks will upgrade a stock MIM to something like a Callaham and that does make a huge difference). Otherwise, I think the quality in terms of the bridge plates and saddles and such are pretty comparable. The American's are probably a little better but that's not to say the MIM's are bad at all. There's a lot of us out here who've had MIM's since the 90's and we've never had a problem with them in that specific regard.

Now honestly, if this project body has the 2 hole mounts, I would return the wrong trem (or sell it outright) and just get the correct trem. It's not because of any quality issues of the MIM's, it's just that getting the correct bridge will save you some trouble...get the right part that you -know- will fit.

Just my $.02 worth,
Jim
