Hi All, I'm a newbie here and pretty well brand new to computer forums. Thought I'd say Hi from me and my new axe.
after a long break from guitars, i bought a 70's Japanese lawsuit copy a couple of years back. Last Saturday after loads of time looking round, I bought this Ultra: as stated many years out of guitars and I'd never heard of them or seen an ultra before. thought when I bought it that it was probably a budget USA strat. I traded my fender copy against it with a private seller. It was advertised at around the same price as a secondhand MIM.

I'd always in my older playing days preferred maple boards, but I really love the feel of the ebony on this and am dead impressed with the Lace pick ups (was really surprised.) Really pleased with my new strat, happy that I bought it on the grounds of the feel suiting me, got a bit of learning on how to get the best sounds out of it.

Gonna probably ask lot's of questions on here, first one being for a guide to TBX use!
Cheers
Wayne

Welcome! You traded a Strat copy for a US made Strat Ultra?? You certainly got the better end of the deal. Great score!!

As for an explanation of the TBX tone control, Fender has old manuals available online here. Check this out and scroll down to the "Tone" section http://support.fender.com/manuals/instr ... s_1987.pdf

Many thanks for the manual: really useful. (I did have to part with just a little money on top of my old strat copy, but not much and I do think I got a killer deal: from the point that I really like my new guitar)
