I just bought a 2007 Highway one Strat and I love it !! did a string height adjust and put my fav D'Addarios on it and IT ROCKS !! Someone has removed the "Greasebucket" tone control and I don't know why. I was told that it had upgraded Seymours in it. (I don't know) but it sure sounds and plays great. It has found a home til the day I die.

I have a 2009 Highway 1 the electronics are not cheap at all they are the same that comes in all strats I open them all because I am strat mechanic.
Not only can I play but I can repair every piece of my guitar.
At the same time I had 2009 highway 1 on my table I had a 2008 American Standard.
Both had a fretboard flip that is common on fenders at the 22nd fret.
Its pretty easy to fix with some masking tape a sharpie a leveling file and sand paper for a finishing polish.
I own an 89 American standard a 08 American Deluxe and a 09 Highway 1 the Highway 1 is my fav.
But then Im never intimidated by any guitar if it has a problem I am its surgeon.

I know that the Greasebucket tone control has been changed because the number 1 switch position has no tone control instead of the number 3 position. I don't have a problem with that cause it works fine. What is your opinion on the Alnico III pickups and how can I tell if it has the original fender pickups instead of the Seymour-Duancan, cause they both look the same?

I really like the Alnico IIIs better than alnico 5 standards and the Texas Specials I have all those around to compare to them. Im sorry what pickup do you think might be a Duncan? I would be able to tell top side but Im sure if you remove the pickguard and look at the back of the pickups you will see the fender or duncan logos fender singles just have numbers on them on back if somethings been changed you can get a diagram to restore the wires from support page here.
My 2009 is so impressive I didnt change a thing in the electronics.

Yeah my first strat was a 76 so I always thought the smaller original peghead was kinda strange at first.

I bought my Highway one at a guitar store and I asked him what kind of pups were in it and he said "Seymour-Duncan" so I have to assume he was talkin bout all three.
Thanks for the info !!! The next time I change strings, I will look on the bottom. They don't sound real bad but I really don't think they are as smooooooth as an American Strat pup should be.

The two single coil pickups in the highway one should be hot alnico 3s very hot and spicy pickups unless yours is all singles then they are all 3 hot alnico 3s. yeah let me know

I think SRV will have a problem with your feelings!!!

But in other news, I'm trading my American Standard 3TSB for a Highway 1 3TSB.... But sadly, the neck is going on Ebay. I'm after the guitar for its body.... Putting on a Warmoth Pro neck on it.... \m/

I love the huge headstock as well, reminds me of Blackmore! :)

I hate single coil pickups so I would maybe buy a used Highway with large headstock, assuming I can adjust to the narrower string spacing, and replace all pickups with humbuckers! Probably HSS, with a full sized HB and two rail pickups. :)

Between me and the other guitarist we have 6 strats only 2 of them,
his 1966 strat and my 2009 Highway 1 (which he keeps trying to buy btw)
are large headstock.
I really at this point love all our strats.
