hi, which is the best compromise to do in order to get the lower action as possible on the higher strings of a fender american standard stratocaster without having problems ( buzz or body damage & dings ) ?

stock settings were a little too high, especially on the 1st strings so i lowered a little the bridge.

now it's ok but i noticed the tremolo have just a little space before to touch the body during up vibratos with the bar.

previously ( factory action ) i could vibrate the tremolo bar in the up way with quite enough a good travel.

what about your experience?

thanx

Am I understanding you correctly that you lowered the action and then the bridge plate came down lower to the body thus not allowing you to pull up far on the trem? Raising or lowering the string saddles to adjust action should not result in the back of the bridge moving closer or further from the body. No big deal, you can bring the bridge back up by adjusting the trem springs.

My guess is that after lowering the action and then retuning over and over again, resulted in less tension on the trem springs and therefore lowering the back of your bridge.

Setting up a Strat is a balancing act between strings and springs. The Strat setup guide here is a good place to start: http://www.fender.com/support/stratocas ... _guide.php

thanx
yes i know the guide and other more specific too.

there is no problem at all, i just noticed that lowering the bridge, of course i have less movement on the tremolo bar.
so to avoid this i can release some string tension to bring back more space between the tremolo/body

has anybody had the same result as mine?

you suggested me another solution thanx! i could just lower the saddles height and keeping the beidge higher.

but... could this create other problems instead?

You must have a two-point trem.
If it were me I would rather lower the saddles. Just make sure you keep them in the correct radius to your fretboard.
