How is the Blues Junior? How many different sizes does it come in? I've heard different things about it, but I was want to hear what people who have played it a lot or own it think.

I clicked on this because with a subject title of just "Blues" I thought this would be about playing the blues with Strats - my favorite combo! False advertising :P Oh well....

You might get more responses if you posted this question in the "Modern Amps" forum. You're in the "Stratocaster" forum.

Blues Jr. comes only in one size. 1x12. But there have been different versions with different color tolex or in tweed, and different speaker. All have the same circuit though. The differences are only cosmetic, except for the speaker.

Personally, I think the Blues Junior just sounds just OK. If it doesn't suit you, there are mods you can do to soup it up a bit. Just google "BillM Blues Junior mods". Or there are plenty of other 15 watt tube 1x12 combos out there these days as that type of amp seems to be popular these days.

I don't know if I've ever seen anyone do anything other than gush over a Blues Junior. From what I know they're almost a staple for tone hounds and all things being equal they're reasonably priced to downright cheap for a tube amp. I know that you can get them in a couple of different style of looks but I'm sure that they're all 15W babies. Check them out for sure.

I've had my Blues Jr. for a month now and haven't gone near my Voxes or Marshalls, does that tell you something? It's simply a great little amp and brings out the best in any guitar,I highly recommend it.

I like the Pro Junior better, but it doesn't offer reverb, gain, etc. There's just a tone and volume control, but it sounds so much sweeter.

To my ears, anyway.

I have had mine for about 10 years and it is not the greatest amp for the price, or let me phrase that better in that I expected more from it. But with a good pedal board you can get some great tones from it. My 50 watt Crate vintage club amp which cost me $300 used about the same time totally destroys it. The drawback though is it weighs as much as a Volks Wagon.lol

Get it!! I love mine. I just got back from playing with some friends and the this little amp just spit out tone. It even made me sound acceptable.

I purchased a Blues Jr and I personally didn't care for it. I didn't like the sound I got out of it. I also prefer having switchable channels. I had it at home for about a week and I returned it for a Traynor YCV40WR. I did like the weight of the Blues Jr though!

I bought one, played it side by side with a Peavey tube amp, and the Blues Jr. was just too boxy sounding. I returned it for a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I love the sound I get out of that on the clean channel with a modded Boss Blues Driver. Awesome blues and rock sounds!

Wow , going from a blues jr to a hot rod deluxe is a jump in the wattage department.I have one and its ok.I like the size of the thing. It still sounds boxy with a tubescreamer, but it sounds alot better with my EH English Muffn. It has decent cleans, but doesnt have an ounce of bass to spare.I have a Peavey classic 30 now that I am taking to jams, not as light ,but has great bass. The boost switch on the classic 30 sounds dreadful though.
