Don't buy anything in haste. Take your time and have fun looking at and playing a variety of guitars. When you find the one that it's got to be...don't purchase it till you've slept on it. It sucks to have "buyers remorse" because of a hasty decision.

Oh yeah, and after you do get a new guitar(s), etc. post some pics :-)

Thanks

I would go CS all the way and have a guitar built to my specs.

I really like the original sunburst strat's, so personally I would have picked one of those. This one looks abit worn, so you might even get a discount...

I'd go for a custom shop. Only time in my life I would have the chance.

What can you get for $4000? Here's an excerpt from "What do you want from life" by The Tubes...

Well, you can't have that, but if you're an American citizen you are entitled to:
a heated kidney shaped pool,
a microwave oven--don't watch the food cook,
a Dyna-Gym--I'll personally demonstrate it in the privacy of your own home,
a king-size Titanic unsinkable Molly Brown waterbed with polybendum,
a foolproof plan and an airtight alibi,
real simulated Indian jewelry,
a Gucci shoetree,
a year's supply of antibiotics,
a personally autographed picture of Randy Mantooth
and Bob Dylan's new unlisted phone number,
a beautifully restored 3rd Reich swizzle stick,
Rosemary's baby,
a dream date in kneepads with Paul Williams,
a new Matador, a new mastodon,
a Maverick, a Mustang, a Montego,
a Merc Montclair, a Mark IV, a meteor,
a Mercedes, an MG, or a Malibu,
a Mort Moriarty, a Maserati, a Mac truck,
a Mazda, a new Monza, or a moped,
a Winnebago--Hell, a herd of Winnebago's we're giving 'em away,
or how about a McCulloch chainsaw,
a Las Vegas wedding,
a Mexican divorce,
a solid gold Kama Sutra coffee pot,
or a baby's arm holding an apple?

Enough said...

Jim

actually trawling through the completed items for Fender on ebay its quiet surprising just how much vintage gear is listed, but unsold and heaps without any bids at all. this is different to how i remember ebay 10 years ago, lots of frenzied bidding and crazy prices.

With today's economy, get yourself a USA Standard Strat and a Hot Rod deluxe amp. Put the rest of the money in the bank.

I'd get something custom and not a Fender or Gibby either. Something that's unique that no one else has. I'd get something a lot better than a HRDlx. You'll need the extra cash to fix it or mod it. Just kidding.

Four grand will buy you a decent rig.

I take it back - I would buy stock in General Electric and enjoy the rig I currently have.

Somehow I must agree!!! 8)

I also please. Had her out today. ZZzounds!! That bridge pickup and the way that micro-toggles back and forth. The guitar's got more voices than that choir in Salt Lake City. 8)
