Go ahead try and silence me this is NOT the first thread concerning this issue, NO, wait it's a PROBLEM ! Sooner or later Fender will wake up and solve the mediocre manufacturing from south of the Grand River. Maybe they'll even move jobs back top this great nation.

Bottom line any guitar sold made anywhere with the Fender/Squier logo benefits Fender Inc.

I've played guitars of varying quality that were MIM, MIJ and MIA - in my experience, the quality of individual guitars can vary considerably, despite the fact that they're produced in a factory. I'm not sure it has anything to do with their country of origin, and don't see how that could be empirically proven.

As long as you're happy with your guitar(s), it's all good. I bought a H1 because it had a thin neck and jumbo frets...but had that guitar not been there in that shop on the day I went in, I could just as easily have bought a Jimmy Vaughan sig model (MIM). I really liked it a lot...but it was the neck on the H1 which sold me on it; not the sticker stating where it had been made.

I do find it interesting that the whole issue of quality control became linked to politics on page one of this thread by the OP.

Just an observation.

Wow...it's getting hot in here!

My 2 cents: I think the quality of MIM stuff is getting better...I had very minor issues with a MIM tele that I ordered from Musician's Friend. Some of the pick guard screws were missing... not sure whose fault that is. I really do question the overall quality of the stuff coming out of Mexico though...I'd never buy another one sight unseen, and not just because of the missing screws.

Frankly, the "good" MIM stuff is on par with the low end American models...Special & Highway 1...I wouldn't buy one of those with out a hands-on either.

I've purchased a number of MIJ/CIJ guitars over the years and they are always spot on... on par with American Standard quailty as far as construction, fit, and finish. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either on-line.

Sure, I think the MIM stuff gets a bum rap but some of it's well deserved. Again though, I do see it improving.

I bought my MIM Jimmie Vaughn after trying Strats that were MIJ and MIA and I found the MIM Jimmie Vaughn the best of the bunch.Having 25 guitars and after playing 45 yrs I know quality when I see, feel and hear it.

Please pardon me if I missed this type of response, but there is currently a 37 page MIM Strat Owners Club thread going, all of whom love their guitars.

I would say that is a more-than-adequate response to the presumably upright bipedal mammal riffing on our brothers just south of us.

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... &start=525

I love my American Mahogany HSS, but a part if this is that I could afford it ($1200). I'm so happy that Fender makes the same model for a fraction of that price in Mexico, and I would feel very lucky if that was what I could get for $450 or so.

I also love my Mexican Aunt, co-workers, friends and get a bit defensive when they are submarined by the lost souls from their backround.

I'm a 3rd generation, 36 year old Irish guy into heavy metal. I would hate to be associated with that terrorist Timothy McVeigh, who I believe has a similar background. That God almighty that it is not my burden to carry.

My 2 cents: So for this person every mexican is lazy, and every MIM Fender strat has flaws, and there is no way he´ll change his mind.
This might make u think twice Jet:
THE RICHEST MAN ON EARTH IS MEXICAN, CARLOS SLIM (TELMEX-TELCEL) Do u think he´s lazy and uneducated? He built this empire with MEXICANS, yes, those u dislike.
If there´s an immigration problem, and you are "defending your homeland", thats another issue, but don´t blame it on MIM Fenders.

You completely failed to answer/see my question both times. Is it some guy in Mexico that sets quality control, or some guy who lives in your country?

Answer that then carry on with your xenophobic anti mexican rant.

Someone is lazy or shiftless, if it's the supervisors (Mexicans according to Fenders own history) or the workers (again Mexicans) it shows they do NOT care about the product they build. Someone in Southeast Asia would be happy to have their job and support their own family.

As for Fender their own history states that representatives from the USA were sent down to train the workers and supervisors. The factory supposedly operates independently, if that's true then the ONLY ones to blame are the Mexican workers(sic).

This same substandard work ethic is apparent in the buses I repair. We try and buy those coaches made in Canada and North Dakota which are the standard of the industry but are often forced to take inventory from Mexico which as a result contain numerous defects. Wiring harnesses buried below outer side panels during construction with screws driven through the harnesses grounding the "run" switch causing intermittent shut downs on the HIGHWAY. Yes another fine product from Mexico.

Absolutely 100% incorrect. Just plain wrong and like so many of your dispicable, ignorant, idiotic, hate filled views.

Quality control is set by the ultimate owners of the company. That means the same people who set the QC levels for corona also set the QC pass grade for squier, gretsch, jackson, ampeg and swr amongst many others.
The Ensenada plant is instructed to let certain things through. You cant buy a Rolls Royce for the price of a Mini Clubman. If you dont like it spend more and shut up. If you really think Squiers are better join the Squier board and stop posting your racist hate filled crap here. Were educated and dont want to hear it. Most of us whitebreads were well past that nonsense by the age of fourteen.

That fact of life will no doubt be ignored, like much of your education.

Appreciated CC.

I was merely pointing out how grateful I am that people do not associate me with "the lost souls" from my background (and apparently yours), thus I would not do it to our brothers from Mexico the way this NJ mammal has.

My own personal opinion on the matter is that any thought process that attempts to draw a direct correlation between a product line and the surrounding culture and/or race in which the manufacturing facility resides is a fundamentally misguided thought process.

That said, it's just that ... an opinion. And one which a lot of folks no doubt intensely disagree with. Which is why we tend to avoid such matters around here, just as we do religions and politics and the like -- all topics about which folks have intensely strong, unique, individual opinions.
