How difficult would it be to drop in an American Vintage Synchronized Tremolo into a HW1? I know the bridgeplates have to be nearly if not exactly the same width based on the dimensions of the pickguards. Are the 6 mounting holes the same space between MIA and MIM tremolos? If not, I can plug and re-drill no problem. I'm more concerned with the tremolo cavity. Will that need modification to accommodate US specs?

I want to swap the bridge out. I would do the Calaham except that it retains the string spacing of the OEM MIM trems. The Wilkinson 5+1 was my other choice. But to be honest, I am such a Fender brand-a-holic that if I can, I'd like to upgrade it to a Fender OEM MIA trem.

If your Highway One Strat has 2-7/32" string spacing, then yes -- the US-made vintage trem bridge will drop right in. And I don't think you'll have any problems with the trem cavity either.

The Hwy1 strats do not have vintage spacing, they use the Mexican/Import spaced bridge. You will have to fill the old holes and redrill new ones to use a AVRI bridge

Ouch!

That's a job I'd reserve for a qualified luthier. If the new holes are hosed in any way, the guitar has bought the ranch.
