My road worn is growing on me, but might go on the block. What is a good price to ask if I decide to sell it?

How can you tell if a Roadworn is used?I don't have any price listings for Roadworn in my sources but also you need to supply info such as condition, year or any upgrades it may have and place of manufacture.

I think it's a 2007 or 2008. Built in Mexico. Everything is stock as to my knowledge.

The value put on a Standard MIM Strat from 06-08 is $300-350 and that's with a case.As I said before I don't have any info on the Roadworn but maybe you can guesstimate from that.

A big problem with the MIM Roadworn guitars in the resale market is value. The initial retail cost is close to $1000, but in the end, it is basically a MIM Strat. Do they increase in value like a MIA Strat? Who knows. My 2004 Classic 50s Strat MIM retailed for close to the Road Worn price, and I bought mine used last year for $212. Will the resale value of the Roadworns fall to such levels as other MIM Strats, who knows??? Will Fender lovers pay the premium for the added bits the RWs posess on the used market??? I guess you are going to find out. Good luck, and let us know what happens.

That's what I was wondering. How do you valuate what was once a new worn/used guitar and is now a used worn/used guitar? :?:

I saw a pre-owned RW Tele that sold for $500. I think it was about the same year, if that's any help?

if the frets have no wear might as well sell it as "Mint" and get $500-600

The used ones I have seen were listed for $500-600. I do not know if they were selling at that price, though ...

Also, people ask the "how do you know what condition it is in?" It is true that being able to tell a mint-condition RW against a "normal use" RW is likely near impossible unless you are a RW expert. However, this is true for all the relic models out there.

From what I have seen of the Road worn guitars, the wear patterns on the Strats seem to be almost identical from one guitar to the next. Are the worn areas done by hand?? it would also make sense that the "natural" wear should happen in the same areas as the "artificial" wear occurs. If that is true, how could you tell if the wear came from the guitar player, or the factory worker?? Sorry, I just don't get the new/worn thing, but that is just me. Besides, that has been covered in many other threads.

When Musiciansfriend put them on sale for their Fender Fridays they were $499 I think, and that was for a new one. So if people know that, it might hurt the resell value some.

I'm far from an expert on this subject and I'm more 'thinking out loud' than anything else. Notwithstanding, I would think that sooner than later the second hand market is going to be flooded with the Road Worns. The American Specials being made in USA, having pristine cosmetics and what appears to be quite popular features along with them being in the same price range as the Road Worns are going to be a 'no brainer' to the majority who bought Road Worns. Besides, the Road Worns are all 'worn' identically in the identical places regardless of color and this is rather silly.

The point: If you're looking to unload it, now would be your best time, price wise.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

$450-550.
Follow a few auctions on eBay to find out. They're selling for $850 at MF, etc. down from $900 last Fall. Fender lowered the prices on many guitars recently.
I bought my RW Tele for $500 last Oct. at MFFF promotion but I believe you can get $500 as "used" or "not original owner".
The wear on the finishes are all very similar though not exactly the same. This probably was a manufacturing neccesity for mass production. However the nitro finish is so thin that player wear will show very quickly and change the wear patterns to reflect the individual playing style of the owner. I think that in 5 years and on these guitars will look different from each other.

hey cvilleira-
That's some analogy.

In case of mistakes do guns have erasers too?
