I'm going to change the PG on my Special with the Fender's Aluminium black machined PG.

I was wandering if switching to a metal PG would affect the sound, after all the pick-ups are linked to the PG via some screws and aluminium resonates very differently ( I suppose ) from plastic.

Does some of you have some experience?

Thanx

Never heard or experienced any difference. But I'm sure some people will say it does.

I don't know for sure, but I would think that it would just slightly.

Let us know when you find out.

Please don't give the "tone" marketers any more ideas!

Pickguards in themselves dont affect sound. Shielding does, it tends to dull the top end.

[STATEMENT]
Removing your pickguard drasticaly changes the guitars sound.

[ANSWER]
Yes because the pickups bang against the strings all the time.

No no no no no. It won't affect your guitar's sound.

But it could affect the way you play (i.e. I've just spent x bucks on a shiney new pickguard, I'd better be careful not to scratch it :? )

I just spent x bucks on a new one myself, from greasy groove. Have to learn how to be careful too, the old one has blood on it.

They used to call the huge pickguards on Everly Bros. Gibsons the Tone Killers.

A pickguard will not affect sound...however there is a difference on guitars where pickups are screwed to the body...but then that wouldnt be a strat....and have the strat sound :)

You should however be careful not to let the tone fairies escape when changing the pick guard 8)

After putting a solid mahogany pickguard on my Fender Precision bass, there was absolutely no difference in tone...

It looks cool though...

If going from plastic to solid wood doesn't change the tone, I don't know what kind of pickguard change would...

Once an amp is crancked no one is telling any difference.
