How can you, layman's terms, tell whether a Strat has a short scale neck or a long scale neck? And whats the differences in tones, feel, sound etc? Also does anybody know if Dave Gilmour's Black Strat has a short scale neck? Sorry for many questions...

AFAIK all stratocaster (with some rare exception as baritone and "sub-sonic") are standard "long" scale ( 25,5").
