I have a 1989 Pewter US Fender Strat Plus with John Cruz on the factory tag (stamp not signature). My question is what involvement would have most likely had with the guitar? You can see the tag on my site at:

The Tune/Test header is a bit of a giveaway. He tuned it up and played it a bit to see if it was ok before it went out the door.

John Cruz worked on productionline instruments from 87-93 when he joined the custom shop department. In 2003 he became a masterbuilder.

I dont think its of any significance on the guitar in question. Unless someone is a John Cruz fanatic.

When he passes away ( which I hope is a long time away ) that will add to it's value, weather people like it or not, anything touched by certain people always fetches more money, in the same way the fender abigail pickups have shot up and will shoot up more when she retires ( which is very soon I think ) although he only tuned them up ect at the time, he still had a role in them, in the early days of the abigail pickups, no one would have payed anything over the odds for them, it's always years later when they realise just how good they are comparably to modern stuff

That's pretty cool. I love early Strat Pluses.
