Maybe someone can help me out with a couple of tips here. I want to put a Dimarzio super distortion in the bridge position in my MIM strat. I like the single coils in the neck and middle but never use the bridge. It sounds really thin. I miss that humbucker sound and dont want to buy another guitar. (ILike the Strat body style) will I need a 500k tone pot in the bottom tone knob position? and I'm under the impression I'll need an F Spaced sized pickup for the switch, The string spacing is just over 2" at the bridge position. Thanks for any direction on this 8)

Are you replacing a current single coil or a humbucker ? replacing the tone pot is not necessary....

Yeah, I replaced the original pu's with fralin split blades SSS and I just wanted to put a Humbucker in the bridge but I dont want the humbucker to sound too muddy or dark, thats why I was thinking of the 500k tone pot. I've heard the 250k darked up the single coils and the 500k brighten up the humbuckers. I'm not shure as I'm just learning guitar wiring myself

Usually, the strat wiring setup does not have a tone control for the bridge pickup.

Unless your bridge pickup is wired to a tone there is no need to change the pot.

EDIT: The capacitor used on the tone pot also affects how "muddy" the sound will be.

I'd try replacing the pickup using the Pot that is currently in your guitar (probably a 250K). I've had several Strat's with HB in the bridge where I installed a 500K pot only to regret it. The 250K will more than likely be satisfactory to you. If you do install a 500K and it's too brite; then you can add a jumper wire on the switch to add a tone control to the bridge which will help alot.
