hello,

I'm going to buy a new guitar soon and was wondering which model would suit me.
The things i look for in a guitar:
Moderatly thin neck
fixed bridge (no termolo)
good for blues, rock and metal.

would a hss model be good for that?
I'm not sure of what wood would be the best, please post some sudgestions
and if you want me to add more info on what i want in the guitar, just tell me :D

thanks :D

The only hardtail fender currently offers is the Robert Cray, that is a hardtail strat. Have you considered a tele, maybe something like a 72 reissue. The neck will help with the metal and they are fantastic guitars.

Yeah the Robert Cray model is the first thing I thought of too because of the hardtail. But the Cray is SSS and has a chunky neck. Good for blues, but not metal.

I would suggest an HSS Strat and just block the bridge. Which HSS depends on your budget; MIM Standard, Higway 1, American Special, American Deluxe all have HSS as a stock option. They all have C shaped necks that are on the thin side and should be what you're looking for.

The little vintage frets and 7.25" fingerboard radius of the 72 reissue Tele that nicholsoni suggested actually might not be very comfortable for metal, but try it out! Who knows you might like it.

Not a Strat but a used (since they don't make them any more) Fender Showmaster. They are very sweet. But they were MiK and, hence, not incredibly desirable. But because of that you can often get an awesome deal on them. Some did have hardtails, but most of them had a trem. Also, they came in HSS and HH configurations. Just a thought ... good luck. This is just one I saw on eBay today, going for (currently) $153.
