I have a lot of Strats and play one as my main instrument. But, if a person can afford it, they should have at least one Les Paul tucked away....I mean they are totally different beasts from a Strat. I get out the Paul and it is great for a few tunes and I have a good feeling just knowing she is there....

Both axes r killer congrats.

I like them both (LP vs Strat) but the Strat maybe just a little bit better.....it´s funny when u end up with a tone opposed to what the guitar excels in, like 4 xample a Les paul with a funky tight clean humbucker tone, or a strat fully distorted that in that mega sound u can still hear the subtle tone changes of the single coils, I love those kind of tones, I used to play funk on my strat now i play it on my Jackson, and i used to play metal in my Jackson and now play it with my strat, funny huh???

Great point! One of the reasons I always favor my Strat. With the Ultra wiring I can go to funk, and then clean up and go to jazz, add a little overdrive and do SRV Blues, and then go to the bridge and sound a lot like a Tele... So versatile. My Paul is great when I want the really fat harmonic overdrive sound, or some blues/jazz. But hands down, the Strat just can do more. From Chick'in pick'in to Floyd....just plain old fun!

There'll be four differently voiced Stratocasters in my stable soon. '89 Clapton (gold Lace Sensors); Gilmour NOS; Deluxe VG; and a '57VHR on the way. I will agree on one thing, which I have always acknowledged.....take anyone of those Strats and set it up to play, and then swap it out for the LP. Your neighbors will move. 8)

Yes sir mr ZZ....I want to know too. Is your red?? Post some picts when ya receive it!

I had one that I built with all the same components, plus some.....really did have some sweet tone, BUT I needed a sheet of paper with all the various setting positions for the knobs written down so I could remember where they were at! EMGs with EXP and SPC and a few other goodies:

That RED STRAT is BEATIFUL!!! Love the EMG's. I think the one ZZ is getting might be the black one that is just out. Not sure but that's what I'm thinking. I want one badly but at 4K, it might be awhile.

I chose the two-tone sunburst. Seemed appropriate for the period. Niki's is red. Where your work is concerned....where do I begin??? You need to team up with Ceri. What an operation that would be. Elsewhere I described the '97 American Standard Natural Ash with a rosewood neck that I dropped an EMG Gilmour pickguard into. Didn't really appreciate it 13 years ago. Problem with that period was the swimming pool route. Today, I'd do it differently, in a '57VRI. But with my Gilmour NOS in tow, can't much see the purpose.

.
There are several people on the Forum who have them. Myself and Hopkins for two. It's a beautifully balanced, and well-rendered product. DG was very careful about witholding his imprimature until it was just right. The bridge pickup is a stormer, so much so that he said he would consider putting one of those in his guitar. He toured with one before it was released. Obviously it meets muster and, for the price, is quite a steal, considering what some of the tribute and other relics cost. The relic is every bit a tribute guitar considering the work gone into it to reproduce the physical changes the original went through. However, due to numbers produced, it doesn't rank as a collector's piece. However, its a great guitar to own and play. i had followed the thread on its development for months and was not seriously considering one, until I saw it up close and personal, I swapped out a CS Strat and a PRS Hiland for it. Go for it.
