I've never had pickups installed nor have I done it myself. I'm looking to get a new set and want to figure-in installation costs. Plus, I don't want to get robbed.

What is a fair price to pay a professional or a guy that just knows what he's doing to install and setup strat pickups for me?

when i had the pickups installed on my old les paul, I paid about 30 bucks for labor, and 15 for new pots. it was around 50 total with tax and stuff.

when i had my new pickups in my strat installed, it was free, cause the guy that did it before is now my guitar tech when i'm on tour.

I would figure between 30 and 50 dollars for labor, and then add on however much more for the pickups. of course, it depends on where you get it, so the cost may vary quite a bit.

They're not that hard to install yourself either, but that's assuming you have a soldering iron, and solder.
If not, then just have them installed, 'cause buy the time you buy all that,
you would've saved money having them installed.

I would say that $40 to $50 is a fair price.

yeah, if you know how to solder, than they aren't that difficult to put in yourself. but if you are gonna, just be careful not to fry the pots.

I changed the single coils out of my 70's reissue to fender lace pickups about eight years ago. it costed around $200 total including the pickups the labor and he also had to install a stronger capacitor which he didn't charge me for. So I imagine it will probably be around the same price.

I would say around $60.00 is a more realistic price for most areas.
