Hi Guys,

Question? I own a 1977 Blonde Fender Stratocaster in mint condition, modified by Carl Creco (master guitar builder for Guild guitars) any idea what the value of the strat would be worth?

Any modification done to a vintage guitar, and new ones in my opinion, will bring the price down considerably. Just my opinion though. :)

Makes no difference who modded it. It's no longer original. Why the brass frets? You would have to put your own value on it and hope someone bites. Was the body routed for the locking system or was it a drop-in.

+1

I'm not a fan of the Kayler Trems used in the 80's (had a nasty kayler spider trem on a strat once......only once)

True, True about modifying the orginal parts, but damn, it's still a thing of beauty, the Strat is mint and I've been playing it for the longest time touring, the locking system still to this day works great!

Everyone who sees it always comments on the Axe. [/img]

This one is all original in very good cond. and it can't sell for $1700

http://cgi.ebay.com/1977-fender-stratoc ... 2eac07cad6

So I would say $1700 max is what you could probably get for it... Minimum probably $1100

Here is one that sold for $1125 without the original pickups...

http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-1977-FENDER ... 414e482c61

I cannot say for sure obviously... But I would estimate $1300...

Pictures ?

I'm wondering about the brass frets too. Really?

The part in bold is the issue. Modded means no longer mint.

mint doesn't mean the breathe candy. it is a coin collectors term.
It refers to mint as the facility that manufactures coins. So Mint condition means, exactly as it was as it was just made.

So after anyone, no matter the quality of the work, changes it, it is no longer mint. The best you could say is probably excellent condition, though many collectors would look at it as less than that.

yours has been changed dramatically, I think it would be worth a lot less than a totally stock example from the same run, even one in slightly worse condition.

Bad news, bud. The Kahler is going to be a price killer, especially if the body was routed to accommodate it (which I believe you would have had to do) ...
