Location: Widnes, near liverpool
hello i really need help. i bought an american strat a couple of weeks ago and it has been great. however ive just changed the strings and now the bridge is floating by at least a centimetre. it was already floating when i bought it . how can i fix this please so that it is playable? what have i done wrong? im really scared.

It sounds like you just put heavier strings on it that what it was setup for from the factory. No big deal, you can adjust the trem springs by taking off the back cover and adusting the claw screws.
You may have to go back and fourth a few times adusting the screw then retuning before you get it to the desired position.
