Any tips on prolonging the life and playability of a strat. Where do you keep your humidity, temp, any particular varnishes, etc.
Even if you like a beattle-scarred axe, go ahead and comment.

The rule of thumb is: "A guitar is comfortable where you're comfortable."

The same range of heat, cold, humidity and dryness that affect humans affect wood. So if you're thinking, "man, it's hot and humid," then you're guitar thinks so, too.

for solid body guitars, humidity really isn't a big issue. unless its really super high. temperature will just cause the guitar to go out of tune, but again, shouldn't be a problem unless the temperature is extreme.

I store my guitars in my bedroom, partly because I have no where else to put them, and partly because I know they will be safe there. If I can live there, my guitars sure as hell can.

Clean the strings after you've played the guitar.
Regulary clean the guitar with a dry cloth and maybe once a year
with (guitar)polish. Don't play in the rain.

Yup, exactly. If you're in the Amazon, your guitar's not gonna be happy.
So just keep it in your house where you're comfortable, clean the strings after playing (also, wash your hands before playing), and check out Fender's mantainence guide online.
