Im not sure because I havent tried those yet but I do know about them.
I am thinking fender just renames pickups

I called them but we only talked about DH-1/Diamondbacks- Atomics -Hot Rods and Tex Mex Standards and Enforcers we just briefly touched on there is also an Atomic neck 8 ohm Alnico II

The other guitarist in my band Pull Tabb name is Mike Shockey. Mike and I have been buying up loads of Fender pickups on ebay because we have like four strats on the table right now.
We have been comparing pickups both Single and Humbucking at practice.
Texas Specials Standards Hot Alnico 3s 69s
And We have bought a Standard Tex Mex 8 ohm Humbucker (we did not like got rid of it was to weak)
2 Hot Rod Humbuckers and an Atomic and a Diamondback/DH-1.
The only differance between all of our humbuckers is the Hot Rod comes in aged white.
These are all the exact same pickup they have part numbers sometimes on a label sometimes just wrote on with a sharpie but all 4 ohmed 15.8-16

I have a feeling yours is an atomic neck and atomic bridge just an older marketing name.

Yeah, I never pay attention to the dates on threads... if it is near the top I assume it is fairly new! :?

I found it googling fender humbuckes I have been researching. I have been talking to many vendors and fender themselves. We have been returning all our strats to stock or at least using fender parts.

Well guys, I have been trying a bunch of pickups and I am back using the Fender Diamondback. I can't find anything that is better than the stock Diamondback. Fender did a great job designing this pickup, it is darn near perfect!

Did you miss the "K" on your meter? 8 ohms for a pup would mean that it is shorted.

Well, there was someone here recently that claimed that the pup makers, and everyone else, had it wrong and that it was actually just ohms and not k-ohms.

Every site I been to Dimarzio and Seymour Duncan and Fender and Gibson themselves list them as kohm.
Why would someone claim the whole world is wrong and they were right?

Ignorance, megalomania, I don't know. If I really cared, I would search for it, but I do remember the person talking about it.

I had both pickups in a combination of Amer. Dlx. and Highway One Strat Hss's and I couldn't wait to get rid of them.
I replaced them with a combination of Gibson (498T, 490T, 57 Classic Plus, and BurstBucker 3) and DiMarzio humbuckers (particularly the 36th Anniv. P.A.F. ....I LOVE this pickup!!)
I couldn't be happier and my guitars sound amazing!

Ooooh.....the perfect person for my question!

I have an American Special Mahogany HSS Stratocaster.

Now, I love this guitar - the feel, action...everything is perfect. I can get all the sounds out of the Single Coils that I want (Clapton, Hendrix, Mayer, Tom Petty, PF) and I've been VERY happy with the humbucker (Diamondback), but not amazed.

EVH is my favorite player, and he essentially was dropping a Gibson Humbucker into a Strat, which it appears you have done an entire research project on.

Which one of them gives you the best EVH grit? I realize the body isn't big or dense for Slash tone, but which one comes closest? (my mahogany body will help some) What about AC/DC or Aerosmith?

Thanks in advance HWY1Strat!

EVH took a PAF from an old ES-335, so it's not exactly a high output pickup.
Slash doesn't use high output pickups either.

All of the players/bands mentioned get their tone from turning the amp up high and working with that.

Slash tone is vintage output Alnico 2 pickups his are 57 classic 57 classic plus copies.
EVH tone is mid output Alnico 5 the Fender Atomic copies this hence the name Atomic as in Atomic punk.
Joe Perry of Aerosmith tone can be copied using Hot Alnico 3 pickups.

I remember someone got arrogant with me about it same reason. He said it was because he built amps. I said same thing I said to you and he wanted to keep arguing about it so I told him to stick the k where he needed to. :)
