Hello all,

I am having a hum problem from my DH-1 humbucker. The guitar is a Am Dlx HSS with the S-1 switch. In positions 4 and 5 (without the S-1 pressed) i am getting considerable 60-cycle hum. All other positions (SCNs) are dead quiet.

What do you think?

Something is shorting out there. Chances are, the integrity of the S-1 switch is failing. As this should be a warranty fix, take your guitar to a Fender authorized repair facility where the competence of the service personnel therein is well proven.

Wiring rule of thumb;
-partial break on positive will give you a drop in volume
-complete break will give you no signal
-partial break on negative will you hum
-complete break will blast your speakers.
