Hard to tell from the pics but looks genuine, i have one and it is
a pretty thing, certainly no piece of junk. It is indeed a basswood body.

Just the wood of choice from that part of the world apparently.
Should have Duncan pups.

Related question: since the discontinuation of the Koa and Lite Ash Strats and Teles does anyone know which models are coming out of the Korean plant at the moment?

I ask because of the things Forum user guitslinger has revealed about unpleasant working conditions in the Cort factory, where Fender's Korean instruments come from. I wonder if Fender are scaling down their Korean sourcing - or not?

I have the Lite Ash Tele, BTW. A particularly well made guitar as it happens.

Cheers - C

My Lite Ash Strat is a beautiful guitar, and i really dig how on the korean guitars "fender" is all that's written on the headstock.

The Koa Stratocaster has the so-called "lightburst" finish, which looks astounding. Same thing for the Telecaster version also.

Unfortunately Fender didn't produced Koa basses aside the Victor Bailey signature Jazz Bass models.
