I found this Fender Special Edition Koa Stratocaster for sale it's made in Korea with a serial number of 06021537, how do I find out if its real or fake?

Simon M how much are they selling for down under, the last time we saw one for sale new here was for $799.00 US

They look nice, but the koa is just a veneer--probably over basswood--just so you are aware of that--that's not meant to say don't buy it, just so you know before you buy.

It's a very nice looking guitar and with the Duncans she should sing real sweet.The specs say the body is basswood but they don't say if the koa is a cap or veneer.

About $1300.00 AUD.

Aussie dollars aren't quite as sexy as US ones. ;)

It did say veneer. does that mean the pretty wood is just a thin strip that is glued over the top of the body?

The body is indeed basswood, which is not a bad wood.

I'd like to see a picture of the back of it, especially the tummy cut.

Well a koa cap, or a solid koa body would increase the cost quite a bit.

But it is a beautiful wood.

I wish I'd had a bit more money when I was in Hawaii--I'd have brought back a beautiful koa ukulele with abalone rosette and position markers.
