The Eric Clapton Mid-Boost is primarily designed to fatten up single-coils. Have you tried the active circuit with humbucking pickups (e.g. dual Red Lace Sensors, Enforcers, Atomic DH-1s or any similar hot humbucking pickup)?

The early Richie Sambora Strat with the huge stars had a super-hot DiMarzio PAF Pro humbucker in the bridge and the Clapton Active Mid-Boost circuit. It had also an active/passive push-push button to bypass the preamp - a great, useful feature when your batteries die during a gig.

Done it for a while now with a dimarzio FS2.

Dont like it, its a bit too much at times. The sound of the boost on zero with the dimarzio makes up for it.

It's designed to work with humbuckers. Thats what noiseless pickups are. Humbuckers made to sound like singlecoils.
