This is my 2002 Fender Amer. Dlx. Fat Strat. I replaced the orig. humbucker (it totally SUCKED!! :( ) with a DiMarzio Super Distortion. The 2 Fender Vintage Noiseless that came with it are perfect....no problems there! :D
But...as time went on and my musical tastes have matured somewhat....the Super Distortion became too brash for me. :x
So.....I put in an AGED COVER DiMarzio 36th Anniv. P.A.F. !
I LOVE this pickup!!! ( I have it (with exposed bobbins) in several other guitars of mine! )
Never have I heard such wonderful classic rock tones come out of this guitar!!
I am beyond satisfied with this pickup!!

Don't even get me started on the AREA series of pickups! I have them in most of my guitars (I have 10) and I think they're the BEST noiseless Strat replacement pickup on the market!

Very cool, HWY1Strat! Kind of the best of both worlds.

Did you have to modify the pickguard or any of the circuitry?

Very nice. It's a Fenson. What do they call that paint color?

VERY nice. I have two area 58's and a 61' in my MIM and love the tone and lack of noise.

Not the circuitry...but the pickguard humbucker hole had to be slightly 'shaved' to accomodate the new cover.......that's it!

Cool, I wouldn't have thought about doing that. But it looks great and I bet it sounds amazing. :D

If you look closely at the cover of Texas Flood in the illustration it looks like SRV is holding a Strat with a similar humbucker in the neck position.
