are you talking about the spring thats in the hole where the tremolo arm fits, or the springs in the back of the guitar that control the bridge movement?

I'm sure he means the hole for the trem arm. Can you imagine the tuning problems if there were no trem springs?

If your talking about the springs under the plate on the back of your guitar I would say do what fells good. If your happy with the way your tremolo works then your good to go. Or experiment.
Apart from changing the gauge of your strings those springs are, in my opinion, the easiest modification you can do for your strat and yourself. Or I could be totally out to lunch. It is Wednesday after all.

I felt the same way bro. Add two more and it will stay in tune better as well.

Do you have to pull out the trem claw screws a bit when inserting an extra 2 springs to compensate for the spring pull if you want your bridge height to stay the same?
