The other day installed my Callaham bridge block in my Stratocaster. When I removed the 6 bridge studs I noticed that they were not concentric but actually very eccentric (not straight) as I removed and screwed them in to the body. Anyone else ever notice this? Is this normal? The Callaham ones seemed even worse... I e-mailed them and they said thats normal but I thought I'd ask around for a second opinion...

Ok...not trying to be rude here but I'm not really sure what it is that you're asking about. Do you mean the six screws that mount the bridge to the body of the guitar? If that's the case then no, they are not "straight" screws...they're supposed to be a bit tapered.

Also you said you were replacing the trem block...if that's the case, why are you removing the mounting screws to begin with...are you replacing the whole bridge or just the block? If it's just the block you don't really need to remove the bridge, just the saddles from the bridge to access the 3 screws that mount the block to the plate.

As far as the Callaham screws being at even more of an angle, if we are indeed talking about the mounting screws, then I would just use the originals. No sense chewing up the holes in the body any more than necessary.

Not sure if that's what you were talking about or not but I hope it helps.

Jim

To be clear, I am talking about the bridge screws. What I mean specifically is that they are "out of round". When I turn them in to the screw hole they "wobble" on their axis, so to speak.
I'm trying to decide what type of bridge to use on my next build and just fishing for info. It sounds like this condition is "normal" from other forums where I have posted the same question but other peoples obsevations are much appreciated. Thanks.
