Those pickups have AlNiCo magnets. It also appears that the center pickup is stock polarity, leading me to believe their some kind of vintage reproduction.

Really... So, the pickups are not stock ?? interesting... How sure are you of that ?

The System 1 trem looks way to high, looks like the post need to be screwed down more (don't do it while the strings are tight).
I have a system 1 trem on my 87 MIj strat. I can post pics if you want. The action on mine is higher than the rest of my strats, but the bridge still sits a lot lower than yours.

As stated earlier in this thread (it's ok I don't read entire threads either :) ) , the tremolo was screwed back down to where it should be... The guitar setup is good...

I just noticed you're in phoenix, I'm out in Surprise. So if you want to sell it to me for like $100. I'll take care of it and you won't have to worry about it. ;)

I'm reading the forums at work (shhh, don't tell anyone), so I was just skimming thru them.

It's a Japanese strat with topshelf American pickups if what I suspect is right.
Theres no bar magnet, to make a ceramic pickup with individual slugs would cost a fortune.
I cant be sure they are not stock. I just cant think of the last time I saw a Japanese guitar with Alnico magnets, stock polarity (no doubt enhancing your noise problems) and a trem more associated with metal guitars.

I thought those strats with Kahler trems had a humbucker at the bridge. However the Japanese catalogue has a ever changing contents.

A trem for metal with a set of pickups more associated with Buddy Holly rather than Iron Maiden says to me something has been changed somewhere. As I said I cant be 100% sure.

If you get chance try passing a magnet over the top of all 3 pickups to see if the center pickup has the same polarity as the bridge and neck pickups.

I never use the bar, and couldn't find it for a long time. Just found it again a few months ago, but I think I'll keep it. :)

Careful... This is an E serial number which would put it in the late 80's... Is the ST62 of that vintage ?

It's definately not a ST62, they didnt use those neck codes then. Also no ST62 has a system1 trem. I refer you to the link Chet provided above. It states the system1 trem only featured on the Contemporary strat.

The code on mine is st-62 and it has a system I trem, but it's a squier, so might be different.

Ahhh fair cop, how ignorant of me.
I must say, they look like the american vintage pickups, but then again they look quite generic..

Are you talking the code on the end of the neck and in the body cavity? That's part numbers.
