Sorry to hijack, but it seems that the issue has been answered now...

I am very curious, where can I get one of those STRAPS? The only place I've seen them were on John Mayer's Monterey Pop Strat on the 'Where the Light Is' DVD, and in your picture of your guitar, there. I have an Olympic White/Maple American Standard, and I think that color scheme would compliment it nicely. I looked under the accessories part of Fender's site here, but couldn't find that color. Does it only come with certain guitars, perhaps?

Anyway, good luck with the hum, and nice axe!

i saw a few of these straps on ebay today. don't know how they compare price-wise, but could be worth a check.

I know the Powerhouse Strats have a dummy coil under the pick guard to reduce hum. It seems to work fairly well on mine anyway. I'm not having any issues with excess noise.

I kinda wonder about all the folks that buy a Strat for that "real Strat" sound and then proceed to change everything they possibly can. I guess that's where the versatility part comes into play.

Good luck! 8)

Exactly.

BTW I put stock polarity pickups in my customshop guitar. I changed the SCN's and S1 out for stock polarity pickups with standard wiring. It hasn't even got a tone control for the bridge pickup. No shielding nothing. I was even sat infront of the pc recording a few ideas with it earlier. Nothing too bad noisewise from it, despite being only a foot and a half from the vdu.

Hi, this is directed at the 60 cycle hum, and speciffically to onnekas:

yeah, i just bought a 50s road worn and it is way worse than my american standard. the pickup is supposed to be "reverse wound" or whatever, but it buzzes like a bastard.

also, the thing goes out of tune easily. and strangely, i have discovered that i actually rely on the tackiness of the laquer on the neck (which is of course absent on the roadworn).

pickup wise, i am getting used to the tone of the tex mex...not as glassy as my a.s., but the upside is they don't crap out so much the thinner strings..."6 of one, half a dozen of the other" as they say...

maybe i need to get another spring put in the trem...maybe i shoulda bought the tele...i like the tremolo lightly and occasionally though....maybe i shoulda kept the a.s.....

also, anybody know if i could order the pickguard that is on the 60's road worn? the single ply that's on there (while being "authentic") is really crappy.

all that being said, i like the guitar. i must admit, it looks great, and i know i will never be able to afford a real old strat. i had my a.s. for 23 years, wore down the frets and the board abit, but it looked brand new. i am a real guitar player, and i dont need to hear this crap about how lame it is to not have put the wear on myself. you cannot wear out a guitar like the a.s with it's 500 coats of laquer on the body. if you do wear it out, it will just look $@!&#*, not "rellicKed".

anyways, this forum is great. please let me know your thoughts. thanks.

I was wondering if it is really 60 cycle hum.. I had issues with my guitar buzzing or humming but if I touched the strings or bridge it subsided. So I took it to mike lull guitar works and he went and shielded the whole inside cavity and it has never hummed since.. He said now days you really have to have your guitar shielded cause of all the cell and wifi interference. Its funny too since I had him shield it the output is much higher and brighter.. before there was just a little patch of shielding around the pots and switch then he sprayed this special conductive paint on the inside of the cavity, pickup and tremolo. also the input jack cavity wow best money I ever spent...
