Was wondering who makes the Fender Locking Tuners? Does Fender actually manufacture them, or does someone else, like Sperzel or Grover manufacture them for Fender? Just curious...

Used to be Schaller, now I believe it is Ping.

Look at the package.....
If it says "made In Germany".......it's Schaller.
If it says "made in Indonesia'....it's Ping.

Do they, locking tuners really make that much of a difference? Is there a benefit in a home with changing temperature? I keep it at 68 degrees during the day at 63 at night. I have a Fender Lead III that will be getting a "vintage" Strat neck to save the original Lead Series neck from wear and am wondering are locking tuners worth the expense.

What exactly do you think the locking tuners are going to do for you? Mine were bought to replace a defective tuner that would not hold a particular string in tune. I went with a product that I know to be an upgrade, after all if I was going to spend money on tuners, why not on the product used on Fender's American Deluxe model.

After switching them out, I found that changing strings was a lot faster. It did correct the string from detuning. My guitar will also stay in tune for several days before I will need to make a slight adjustment.

My house is set to 74 during the day and 72 at night during warm weather, and 68 during the day and 66 at night during cold weather. My dogs cannot stand the house warmer than 74 degrees so that is as hot as it will ever get. So no help with your 5 degree temperature difference.

In short the locking tuners are suppose to have less wraps and less of a chance for string slippage. I do know they helped me out with my defective tuner, and I do not have to fiddle as much as I did before with fine tuning.

Well I would take anything made in Germany over Indonesia.lol Schaller is a very well known and dependable company. The Floyd Rose systems on the old Peavey Wolfgangs and I believe on the new Fender ones are Ping, which though not as good as an original Floyd I cant find any fault with them.

Locking tuners are great and I prefer them over wraps. To be honest I have 5 guitars with them and I cut them right at the hole without even making a wrap. Once it is tightened that is it, it is not going to slip.

I've got the Schaller locking tuners, and I recommend them. They stay in tune, and changing strings is far quicker and easier.

My Am. Std and Am. Special both have lockers. Schaller on the Standard and Ping (the ones with the Fender F on the dial) on the Special. They work well for me especially when using the Trem - both stay in tune much better. I have Schaller's on my PRS SE as well and my MIM Strat but taking those off as I am selling it.
