My new American Deluxe Strat...

I'm really liking this color, Metallic Sunburst! Also, the N3 pickups are great. Lots of spank, no noise. The series switch adds a touch of Brian May to the guitar. Instead of just the standard 5 settings, there are 5 more with the switch engaged. The 5 new settings are:
  • All 3 pickups on in series
  • Bridge & Mid on in series
  • Neck & Mid on in series
  • Neck & Bridge on, out of phase
  • All 3 pickups on, Bridge & Mid in Series, Mid & Neck in Parallel

...very interesting. I have a Burns Brian May guitar, so I'm used to these new settings, and tones. Cool to have that Strat tone signature permeating throughout these.

The headstock logo is now embossed in chrome. Kind of cool. A departure from the decal...

The neck heel is now contoured for easier playing up high on the fretboard. Another plus...

I'm also really liking the locking tuners. I've been using Carvin guitars for many years with Sperzel locking tuners. These new Fender tuners are very similar. Actually better, as their gear ratio seems to be broader, which means finer tuning...

The last new Strat I bought was back in 2001. I'm liking these changes. Very nice guitar, both in looks and sound so far.

Oh, and the case is quite heavy-duty compared to the old Fender cases. Nice!

This one's the C-neck profile. I bought it from ProGuitarShop.com in Portland, OR. They had a vid on YouTube of one of their sales guys playing this particular instrument. Loved the color and tone. Went online and they had a couple in stock, so I ordered it. It came Thursday. It's setup nicer than any other brand new Strat I've owned, which is 2. Bought a new one in 1974 and another new one in 2001. It's the 3rd Fender Strat I own at the moment. I still have the 2001. It's a Blue American Standard (w/matching blue Tele), and also have an '84 Pink Paisley Strat w/matching Pink Paisley Tele.

Just thought it was time for a new Strat, and this one is nicer than I expected.

Nice guitars.... all of them  I really like the deluxe. This summer I'm hoping that I can save up some money for one and still have enough for school.. Otherwise I guess I'll have to miss school this year

I find your Paisleys extravagant! Fine taste there.

Sorry. Lifelong habit. NEVER cut strings! Been playing now for 47 years, and stopped cutting them about 45 years ago. The ends are not as dangerous, and the loops look cool... 8)

I picked mine up this last Saturday. I found one at a Guitar Center that just came in and was still in the box untouched by any grubby hands. It's the ash one in tobacco burst. I love this axe! I am really surprised by how much I like the compound radius fretboard. After the first day of playing it because very comfortable. The radius feels just right wherever I go on the fretboard.

Great. Enjoy!

I prefer a 14 or 15" (flat) radius, and these guitars are darned close to my preferences. Very playable.
