Its only one photo to go from but your guitar looks like its in good condition.

Why not either trade it for a color you want, or sell it and put the money towards the one you want, or just buy a 2nd guitar in sunburst.

I just say this as, unlike changing pickups or tuners or a bridge, changing the color is quite a task, that will either cost a fair amount of cash, or take a lot of effort and could easily go wrong.

before trading, try find someone with a sunburst Am Std who would be up for a straight swap. not sure what you would get for a 2nd hand Am Std nowdays.

Your best bet is to trade with someone or trade it in on a sunburst. It takes a lot of practice to perfect the staining process of a sunburst finish as it is done in several steps and it's very tricky getting the knack of blending and fading one colour into the next.Unless you are accomplished at refinish work this would be a very difficult job and certainly not worth the effort.

I would suggest getting a new or used body and switch parts then you could sell your body on e-bay or classifieds or keep it if decide to sell the guitar later. The guitar with the original body is probably worth more.
I've seen some really nice bodies. heres a link to a Sunburst Flame Maple Ash
