It jiggles when I screw it into the hole. It seems like the incorrect size. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I thought the American Deluxe Strat had the pop in trem arm not screw in type. But if you have a screw in type , there is a small spring that drops in the hole before you screw the trem arm in. It keeps trem arm snug. Get yerself a pack of'em cause you will lose them when you turn guitar upside down without trem arm in place.

Interesting. I need to look into this. I never got the spring.

my strat has the screw in type, and never had a spring. it jiggles too, but I overtightened it one day, and it has never fit the same since. I might look into getting one of those springs.

Sweet I'm gonna get some.

I went to Guitar Center and finally got the correct tremelo bar for my Strat. It fits good but you really gotta screw it in far. I'll bet that with a spring in there, I won't have to twist it in so far.

heres some from the callaham website:

This counterbore is also in American Standard blocks. The counterbore creates a tremendous stress riser on the first thread of the trem arm, the weakest section of the arm, because the arm is completely unsupported at the top of the block. The forces developed when using the trem are applied directly to the threaded section of the arm. It doesn't matter if the arm is made from high strength materials, it will eventually fail right at the first thread. The counterbore also reduces the leverage over trem springs. Fender arms also have significant play in the threads making the bridge very slow to respond and making subtle vibrato effects difficult. The Fender solution is a heavy spring in the bottom of the block. This spring causes the threads to gall and suddenly the arm is locked in the block and the only way to remove it is to break it off. Most people loss this spring without even knowing it, which is good. But trying to replace it is a mistake.

My tech showed me this. If it's the 2 point trem there's a set screw on the back of the block (at least there is on my 2004 Am Deluxe). You have to put the arm in and press it all the way to the body. Then look on the back of the block and you'll see the screw. If I remember right it takes the small hex wrench. If you never remove the arm you can set it in the groove in the bottom of the trem arm, otherwise just put a little drag on it to keep it from popping out.

Sam Ash just gave me a free spring for my tremelo arm. Those Callahan guys aren't Fender guys and I'm sticking with Fender on this one. Thanks for the info, though.
