Sup y'all,

New here. I figured this would be the best place to ask this. If it is already a thread somewhere, please let me know and send me in the right direction.

I have an SRV signature series strat. It's used, but barely, as i bought it when i was obsessed with having it, but i basically just play acoustic to screw around when i have time. I am going to sell it 'cause of a few reasons, mainly because my dog needs surgery, and i have come to face the reality that i am not a gnarly musician that needs such a guitar.

so, MSRP on the fender site says $2700 brand new, including all amenities such as whammy bar and vintage case.

i don't have the vintage case, so i imagine that decreases value.

it is in really good condition. no scratches. it has been tuned up and what not.

has anyone heard of a going sales price for this? or can anyone give an informed estimate?

i would appreciate it. thanks.

First of all I wouldn't look at MSRP as any indication of value. MSRP is always way higher than "street price", and the SRVs never sold for more than $2020 at one point, and were original around $1500. Also as soon as you buy the guitar the value took a huge hit. the last couple that have sold on Ebay were $1250, $1199, $1230, $1400( All the case candy and 9.9/10 condition), and $975. So I would value a used SRV at around 1000-1400 dollars considering the condition. Usually this is how the value of a used instrument is determined. Whatever the market is willing to pay for it at the time.

Hi Mulletude, according to the Vintage Guitar Guide an SRV Strat is valued at $1,150-1,250.

Ebay is a great way to get an idea of fair market price. I always do some searches on there to see what stuff has recently sold for, and that is usually a pretty good benchmark.

Good luck selling it- sounds like a nice guitar!

I am feeling pretty good, I bought my SRV about a month ago in great shape for $900. I didn't have the case, however I am ordering the Fender case for $135. 8)

Thats a good deal.I have a SRV from 06 and I love it.I recently was at GC and saw a 92 model with a rosewood fretboard in decent shape without the original pickgard and case going for 950.If I had the money I would have snapped it up.I probably could have gotten a case and pickgard and turned around and sold it for around 2k or better.

Yogi pretty much nailed it on the head. Your best bet is to check out the completed listings for them on ebay so you cam match your guitar up. Also guys keep a heads up on both the Vintage Guide and Bluebook of guitars as they usually undercut what a guitar really sells for. I am starting to believe these books were made for stores and dealers to snatch your ax for a big loss. I have both and it is funny how at the Philly guitar show dealers pulled them out to use as a guide to buy someones used ax but it never applied to the guitars they were selling.

Ain't that the way it always is. What you have is worth X and what you are looking to buy is X++...

1100 is reasonable. 900.00 is low and 1250 is high IMHO
