I have a 2004 Highway One Strat. I want to replace the neckplate. Is there anything I need to be aware of? if I remove the neck plate will the entire neck come off? Is there any special pecautions I should take?

Thanks in advance

Yes,,the neck will come off,,but not a big deal for most. Loosen strings, remove the four scews + neckplate, replace with new neckplate (line up neck). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE FOUR SCREWS !!!!

Just make sure neck is seated in neck pocket straight. I have done a few necks and never had one line up crooked , as the screws determine where the neck seats. But i have heard talk of E strings not lineing up with edge of neck, length wise. Again not a big deal if this happens,, just loosen screws and move left of right, GENTLY.

PS
Do not use screws of a differnt size than original.

Make sure the replacement neckplate has countersunk holes to fit the original screws.
