I traded my American Standard Stratocaster (and my Fishman SoloAmp) for a brand new American Deluxe Telecaster.

I never use a tremolo anyway, but still had to put up with the hassles of the floating bridge, and if I set it flush or blocked it, the tone lost that jangle that it had with the bridge floating. I also did not like where the 5 way switch was located (kinda in the way of my strumming), plus having 5 positions, 2 tone controls, and 3 pickups was just a little much for me.

The Strat was only the second electric guitar that I have ever owned and I did not know all these things about it until after buying it, but I did learn a lot and thought the Tele would be a better choice for me.

I love the simplicity of the Tele much better, and I can strum pretty much anywhere without anything being in the way. I like that it only has 2 pickups and 1 tone knob, and the switch only has 3 positions.

I did not think I would like the tone as much as the Strat tone, but now that I have had it for a few days and getting the pickups set right, I like the tone much better than the Strat's tone.

I would like to thank you all for your help with all my posts. This forum really helped me to learn a lot, and I hope to see some of you in the Telecaster forum.

Can we see a pic of the Deluxe? What's the difference between a Tele and a Deluxe Tele? Pics please.

I play both Teles and Strats. I am getting a new Strat soon but my main axe is my HWY 1 Tele. Nothing wrong with the change by any means. Some songs I just need the Strat quack for..:) the majority of songs I play are Tele oriented so it is all good. Enjoy your new axe!

We pretty much all love tele's around here too. it's more important to us that you find the right guitar for you, than it is for you to play what is right for one of us. Congrats, and throw down some pictures.

The tele deluxe has binding on the front of the body, a tummy cut on the back, SCN pickups, abalone inlays and a silver fender logo.

Nice Tele. Just never liked the pup set up. I have a MIK tele with P90s that I use for gigs. I agree that the placement of the knobs is less than ideal on a Stratocaster, but cant get past the traditional pup set up on the Telecaster.

Hi
beautiful guitar

Its funny to me that you went for the Tele Deluxe as you feel it is "simpler" then the strat. You have the S-1 system which is a part of the deluxe line. Which gives you more tonal variety and while NOT complicated does move your tele a bit of a ways out from "simple"

The person wanting to know the differences between a "standard" and "deluxe", note that S-1 switching is also an available difference. I have S-1 on one of my strats and it is an interesting and fun bit of additional tone potential.

Have fun with that new guitar as thats what its all about. (well that and the music)

Very nice dude. Love the inlays. I wish my geets had those over the black dots or white in the case of my HWY 1! Classy.
