I'm currently using the standard strings that come on the Strat but I soon plan on moving up to this set: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/DAddario-EXL115-Nickel-BluesJazz-Electric-Guitar-Strings?sku=100192, which goes from high to low: .011-.014-.018-.028w-.038w-.049w

How 'bout you guys?
I use Hybrid slinkys. 9 - 46. gives you glassy highs and a little more bottom than the 42's.

9 - 42's on my Strats and 10's on my LP...you can put any gauge on you feel comfortable with, heavy strings tend to produce more volume, but you will have to set the guitar up for the specific gauge you are running. Try a few different guitars in a shop and ask about gauges in relation to scale length and see if one combination works better for you before you swap strings and set up only to be dissappointed. Your guitar probably came with 9 - 42's (Bullets?) installed at the factory... I've learned not to argue with engineers!! lol

I’ve used all different string gauges and brand of strings. I would play 12 - 58 Fender Original Bullets when I was trying to get that SRV tone but now days I’m playing Ernie Ball Regular Slinky’s 10 - 46. They seem to be a good all around string for most types of music. 8)

I don't like the slinky's, GHS Boomers are pretty good and don't try the Super Mullets or whatever. Man, those suck for blues or whatever. I stick with the 10's 'cause thats what The EJ's come with and are set-up for. I'm no tech so i'll stick with the factory set-up until I feel the strong need for some 13" like Stevie used(ponders bass frets) nah, not on my EJ, anyway.

Check the original set-up (if your Strat is new) I use Superbullets 3250L
9, that's what mine was set up for. Personally, I really like them.
Evidentally, they arent very popular, hard to find a local guitar shops.
Order from guitarcenter on-line.
