The guitar came with it on, I cant see any reason to take it off. I removed it to adjust the trem, then put it back on. It has a slot that allows me to change the strings... And like animattor said, I would hate for something to get caught on a spring or ground wire...

But the bottom line is that I like it on. Kinda has that "car without a hood" look without it to me.

I have a Clapton strat. The cover holds the battery in place, so I left it on, but I only have 4 screws in it to make mid set battery changes a little quicker.

You'd be happier with it off. Go ahead, don't be afraid of it. It's ugly.

I'm already happy, thanks. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

I left mine on, because if something were to happen to those springs I would have no idea what to do. And its also not my main guitar but when it was it always stayed on too.

i have some off and some on. Love the way it looks when its off, but when i play them live my belt or jean rivets do get caught inside a little bit. Just makes for an annoying couple of seconds. Does make some upkeep a lot faster though....

I consider keeping it off "antiquing." :D
Less plastic and screws = awesome

I leave mine on - but after reading this I might - just might though - take one off and see what I think...

...on another note, I left the scratchplate off my Tokai LP 'cos I thought that looked kind of cool...
