I'm a new member of the Fender Community and I bought my first strat yesterday. 2005 American Deluxe with a Hot-Rod Deluxe amp. Strat still has the protective film on the pick guard and the cover plate on the back. Not a scratch on it anywhere. Gave $1200 for the set. The foot pedal had never been taken out and used. Looks like it is the Tobacco Sunburst but would like to find the 2005 specs to make sure what I have bought. Looks and sounds great. Was advertised 2007 standard strat but the S/N indicates that it is a deluxe 2005 model. Please look at the pictures and let me know what you think.

Thanks also for members that post here. The tips and information on what to look for was a big help. Lets just hope I put it to good use.

Thanks again

Welcome to the forum. Looks like a great guitar to me. I'm not sure of what you are asking about the 07 model. Guess I'm dense. Anyway Congratulations on a beautiful guitar!! 8)

I guess your are asking why it was advertised as an 07. I would ask the seller why the difference in the serial number and their saying it's an 07.
Did you buy from a dealer or a individual?
If you love the guitar I would not worry about it! Maybe you could get a little of a rebate for false advertisement!

Bought from individual, I did ask about the s/n and they didn't seem aware that the s/n designated the year built or that is was a deluxe model. His wife ran the ad and estimated about the time that he was given the strat as a gift by his father.

Can you send the s/n to fender and find out the build specs for a specific strat? Would like to know what kind of pick ups, type of wood etc.

Yes you can! Just email or call customer relations and they can help you. All the info for customer relations is on this site. Good luck!! :)

Hi Ralph,
Nice gear. Welcome to the forum. That looks like an Ash body to me. Fender can give you all the details. Enjoy your new gear!

You can download and print the owners manual and all the specs from Fender for free.
I did it for my used Mex Strat.

Comparing the pictures on the Fender web site looks like ash to me also but i'm not sure. Strat even looks better in person than in the pictures.

Dude, U got a really good deal on a guitar & amp that you'll enjoy 4 ages. Trust me, I own 4 Strats (sold 2 recently) ! The body is DDG & yes, that looks like a tobacco sunburst but a mild version. the wood is Beautiful so I'm real happy 4 U! I use 10-46 on my guitars but you may have a heavier hand than me. Don't be afraid to experiment w/your "toys" & have fun!!! Robdog606, member of Free Lions-Huntington Beach, CA 3/23/2010
