Well, the truth of the matter is that there really aren't a lot of left handed specific parts out there...some, but not a lot. For something like a loaded pickguard, you can keep an eye on Ebay...I'm sure they do show up there from time to time but chances are your best bet is going to be to just order the parts yourself from someplace such as Guitar Center and wire it up yourself (or once you get the parts, have a tech wire it for you).

As far as the pots go, I wouldn't think you would need "left hand specific" pots or anything...I would think you could just use the other set of contacts on them to solder your connections (i.e. instead of using the contact right of the middle, use the one on the left) but I could very well be wrong there. Either way, at the very worse, you can just use traditional pots wired in the traditional way and you're knobs will just rotate backwards from a right handed Strat...they'll still work.

Just my $.02 worth...hope it helps,
Jim

While it is true that left handed pots do exist most of us just use regular pots.

There's a contradiction here. A 'good' shop which does not (translated, "does not know how") to assemble lefty components? That is NOT a good shop!

CAFeathers ,

Where do you see left handle pots ?
It does'n exist and you dont't need that, it's just the wiring make the job.

strato80,
You need just a pickguard, all others parts are the same.

Any tech can do this job.

For me a tech is somebody study technical (electronics) in school.

Not somebody who only work in Music store and name itself "tech"

They most certainly do exist and here's your proof:

http://www.allparts.com/CTS-Left-Handed ... 86-l00.htm

and

http://www.allparts.com/CTS-Left-Handed ... 85-l00.htm

as two examples.

Further, the wiring MUST be appropriate to these which in turn, is NOT appropriate for right handed pots.

Using a righty one as a reference, obviously you know how to dial from one to 10 on it. Doing the same with a lefty pot, you would literally be dialing from 10 to 1. The sweep of a lefty pot is backwards to that of a righty one.

I hear you Brother. I wish there were more of us lefties playing guitar but unfortunately the righties out number us big time. The questions that we have tend to fall on deaf ears because they really don't understand our plight. It's not their fault. Unless you're a lefty you can't adequately appreciate the intrinsic right-handedness in almost everything manufactured today. Our questions while seemingly simple in nature are the result of years of having to do things opposite. We lefties are prone to think that everything is "wrong (right) handed" and in most cases they are.
Martian: thanks for the sights you posted. Very helpful.

Glad to help.

Incidentally, I share your pain. Did I ever mention that I'm a lefty where the only thing I do righty is play guitar?

martian,

That's very interesting : lefty pot !!!

Can you explain to me what's make it lefty ?

What make a standard ( righty) pot does't make the job ?

If you take a righty guit and you play lefty, mechanicaly the pot work, you just have to reverse 2 wire to work "lefty " more or less volume .

Explain me i want to know
